A compact ultra-wideband (UWB) square and circular slot ground plane planar antenna with a modified circular patch for UWB communication is presented. This antenna has a low reflection coefficient and high gain in the range of 8.94 GHz, starting from 2.85 to 11.79 GHz. The proposed antenna demonstrates UWB behavior with electrically small dimensions of 0.18 ×0.14 ×0.015 ( is the free-space wavele
Compact dual-band millimeter-wave antenna for 5G WLAN
Published online : 01-10-2022

This paper presents a novel compact dual-band printed antenna with an omnidirectional radiation pattern for 5G WLAN. The antenna element comprises a star-shaped patch with six disc-shaped elements at the top and a defected ground structure at the bottom, having a radius of 3.77 mm for both. The proper feeding point and alignment with its element parameters help to achieve good impedance matching.
Multiband antenna design based on Gosper fractal for implantable biomedical devices

In this paper, a novel multiband implantable planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) antenna based on Gosper curve fractal geometry is designed for biomedical telemetry applications. The antenna has covered four dedicated frequency bands; medical implant communication system band (MICS 402?405 MHz), industrial, scientific, and medical bands (ISM 902928 MHz and 2.4?2.5 GHz), and wireless medical telemetry
16-element CPW Series Fed Millimeter-wave Hexagonal Array Antenna for 5G Femtocell Applications

A 16-element coplanar waveguide series fed hexagonal array antenna is proposed at millimeter-wave frequency range. In this paper, the analysis is initiated from a single-element hexagonal patch then extended to 1×2 array, 1×4 array, and 4×4 series fed hexagonal patch array antennas. The idea behind this design is to improve fractional bandwidth stage-wise with improved gain maintaining constant ef

Determination of electromagnetic source localization with factorization method

The factorization method (FM) is an attractive qualitative inverse scattering technique for the detection of geometrical features of unknown objects. This method depends on the selection of regularization parameters slightingly and has low calculation necessities. The aim of this work is to present a near-field FM for inverse source problems that have many applications. A modified test equation is
Frequency-reconfigurable dielectric resonator antenna using metasurface

In this paper, we propose a frequency-reconfigurable antenna structure consisting of a dielectric resonator (DR) topped by a superstrate material. Two metasurfaces (MSs) are placed upon the DR and the superstrate, where these two MSs are utilized to synthesize a localized reduction of the dielectric constant of the DR. By placing switches into one of the MSs, the distribution of dielectric constan
Ultra-compact self-diplexing antenna based on quarter-mode substrate integrated waveguide with high isolation

This article presents the design of an ultra-compact cavity-backed self-diplexing antenna with high isolation employing quarter-mode substrate integrated waveguide (QMSIW). The proposed antenna is constructed by using QMSIW, slot, and two 50? feed lines. Two eighth-mode cavity resonators are designed by inserting a slot on the top side of the rectangular substrate integrated waveguide to operate a
Employing the dumbbell-shaped longitudinal slot antennas in the planar slotted antenna arrays

The dumbbell-shaped longitudinal slot antennas are employed as a replacement for the round-ended longitudinal slot antennas. Each dumbbell-shaped slot is excited by an iris and a septum that have offsets from the waveguide centerlines. All the slots are also cut along the waveguide centerlines. It is demonstrated that the resonant length of the proposed dumbbell-shaped slot antennas is much smalle
