Digital I/Q imbalance correction for full-duplex dual-band OFDM radio transceivers

This paper presents a full-duplex dual-band orthogonal frequency division duplexing (OFDM) radio architecture that enables the radio transceiver to be more flexible and provides a viable radio link capacity gain. A simple but practical I/Q imbalance estimation and compensation method, based on the frequency-flat-fading behavior of the self-interference channel, is proposed. The performance of the
X-band compact choke horn antenna with circular polarization and isoflux pattern for nanosatellite applications

This paper presents a tradeoff between isoflux pattern quality and X-band antenna compactness for nanosatellite applications. Having an isoflux radiation and a circular polarization (CP) generally causes a large antenna size which is incompatible for these applications. A new design of an antenna is done with the following maximum antenna dimensions: a diameter of 90 mm and a height of 20 mm above

In this paper, a new configuration embedded with two filters and one resistor is proposed, which has the dual function of power splitting and filtering. The filter is based on stepped impedance ring resonator. All the even- and odd-mode resonant frequencies and transmission zeroes of the stepped impedance ring resonator are derived based on the even- and odd-mode analysis. Three interdigital-coupl
Direct and external modulation of IF over fiber systems for 60 GHz wireless applications

Wireless domestic applications involving high data rates are required to work on millimeter wave band. Signal propagation at this frequency range is affected by walls and oxygen absorption which limits communication distances to few meters in one room. Radio coverage can be extended to other rooms by optical links. Performances of such photonic systems are dependent on optoelectronic devices, elec
A low-loss, continuously tunable microwave notch filter

The development in high-end microwave transceiver systems toward the software defined radio has brought about the need for tunable frontend filters. Although the problem is being tackled by the microwave community, there still appears to be an unmet demand for practical tunable filter technologies. With this motivation, this work presents a tuning method that delivers a resonator Q of 2000?3621 wi
High linearity lead-lag style envelope modulator for RF power amplifiers

A new split frequency envelope modulator for envelope tracking radio-frequency power amplifiers is proposed based on a lead-lag network. By mathematically deriving the transfer functions of the lead-lag modulator and the conventional split frequency type, the lead-lag is shown to have a significantly flatter phase response. The frequency response of the two modulators is verified by simulation, wh
Multi-sensor multi-target tracking based on range-Doppler measurement

In this paper, we present a method for multiple target two-dimensional tracking using multiple sensors with very low azimuth resolution. Due to the scarce azimuth resolution, the data association is performed using range and Doppler information only from four radars. The proposed algorithm is tailored to perform in maritime scenarios. In order to test the algorithm performance, sea clutter data ha
Application of RH and LH sections for reduction of coupling coefficients in two-section asymmetric directional couplers

A method allowing for reduction of coupling coefficients required for realization of two-section asymmetrical coupled-line directional couplers has been proposed. It has been shown that by connecting uncoupled left-handed and right-handed transmission lines between two coupled-line sections one can obtain greater design flexibility of the resulting circuit, simultaneously with the coupling reducti
Numerical study of terahertz circular polarized substrate lens dipole antennas for polarization sensitive detectors

Wide band circular polarized (CP) antennas behind extended hemispherical lenses suitable for polarization sensitive THz detector and wireless communication have been designed and characterized using numerical simulation. Two novel, compact and CP dipole antennas are designed and studied for this purpose. CP property of planar antennas is achieved by geometrical modifications of antennas without an

This paper presents the design of a fully integrated ultra-low-power Ultra Wide Band (UWB) pulse generator. The circuit is designed and optimized for low rate and localization applications. This UWB transmitter is based on the impulse response filter method in order to achieve high energy sub-nanosecond pulses. The circuit has been integrated in a ST-Microelectronics CMOS 0.13 ?m technology with a
